Is Olay Regenerist Regenerating Serum better than prestige brands?
I've decided to take Olay Regenerist Daily Regenerating Serum to the test. I've been hearing so many praises for this product and being the product junkie that I am, it's just not right if I didn't try it out! I was really sceptical at first, how could a drug store brand perform on par or even better than most prestige brands as touted by it's loyal fans. I wasn't even swayed despite my very metrosexual 40 something mate swears by it. To be honest, I wanted to prove that the product is just another drugstore brand with a tall claim. Ha.
However, I really have to eat my words now, each and every one of them. I'm completely bowled over by this serum.
Packed-full with peptides and anti-oxidants
First of all, it's packed full of amino-peptides complex which has niacinamide, panthenol, palmitoyl-pentapeptide (for your ingredient buffs out there) which are hot shot antioxidants that are good for your skin. I'm not sure how the science really works but trust me, they really are great for the skin. The antioxidants found in this serum can rival most prestige brands and for the fraction of the price!
The texture is so light and non greasy. It sinks right into the skin without forming a film over the skin. That is a plus for me especially when I enjoy the outdoors alot. Plus, the light texture does not clog my pores, so no chance for blemishes. I've been using this serum for months and yet, not a blemish in sight. I'm on cloud nine! It leaves skin feeling really velvety smooth just like how a skin refinisher feels like. Perfect when used under the makeup too. Of course, you let the serum sink right into your skin before you apply your makeup over it. I've also felt a slightly warm feeling when putting on the serum. I'm not sure why but it's definitely not a negative reaction to the serum. It has a slight fragrance which to me is rather refreshing and doesn't irritate my sensitive skin. But for those of you who don't like it, you can get a fragrance-free one.
Even skin tone and supple skin
I have combination skin AND sensitive skin. Some parts are really dry while my T-zone is an oil-slick. So, you can imagine what a nightmare my skin's condition is. However, after using this serum in just 2 weeks, my skin tone has evened out and the texture of my skin is so much more refined and just clearer, smoother skin. I don't seem to shine so much anymore on the T-zones and my skin is no longer dry. No flaky skin at all. Nada. It's not a placebo effect. It really, really works. I have no breakouts since using the serum and my skin looks so supple. I've even received compliments about my skin too. Seriously, that's enough proof for me *wink* Ah, maybe its the happy glow I have for falling in love with this serum. My skin is so supple that I actually skip using a moisturizer. About fine lines and wrinkles, it's really quite hard to tell as I'm not at the age where I have major fine lines and wrinkles. Maybe, come see me about 20 years later on and we might just know the verdict!
There's SPF in it. So I have to use a sunblock together with the serum. To the good people at Olay, please, pretty please, come out with a new serum with SPF in it. That would make it the ultimate serum which is affordable for everyone. Olay has a winner in this serum. Also, the serum touts it as having a chemical peel effect without having a real chemical peel. Ok, that claim may be abit too far-fetched. Nevertheless, if you keep your expectations realistic, this serum is really a stellar product in the skincare market
Have you tried this serum yet? Do you like it?
