Flashback Beauty Regime with Bar Soaps
The sales pitch
My sister recently passed me a bar soap. First thoughts, it looks as plain and tacky as can be. She claimed it's a real wonder soap. It clears acne like no other and it's loaded with anti-oxidants. The anti-oxidants part got me slightly thrilled. The scientific part of me is puzzled about the clearing acne claim. Wouldn't the soap be too drying and causing more sebum production, which spells more zits. It's a vicious cycle, I exclaimed! Sis calmly said, wait, let her continue her sales pitch. She asked me to recall how her fiance was a real pizza-face. According to her, no girl would even throw him a sympathy-glance thanks to his pizza-face. But, after using this wonderful soap, his complexion has radically cleared. With a wink, she added, "That's why we're together now!" Cheeky little minx she is.
My verdict
With mixed feelings, I gave the bar soap a test drive. I lathered up my face with the soap and left it on while I shampoo and condition my hair, before washing all of them off. Incredibly, my face felt really squeaky clean BUT without the tight feeling. My skin feels really smooth and amazingly clean. My skin is not dried out at all! According to the packaging, it says that in 1 week my skin will be fully moisturized thanks to the anti-oxidants in the soap. Truth is, I kind of skimp on my moisturizer coz my skin looks very supple all on its own. Amazing stuff!
As for combatting acne, it does a fantastic job. I have a couple of cystic acne flaring up thanks to the time of the month, and after using the soap, they have calmed down alot, in just overnight. After the second day, the cystic acne just went away. Still abit bumpy but it's not inflammed, means no scarring. I'm sold!
Curious eh? This amazing little soap is none other than Ecoparadise's Kojo Densetsu Bar Soap or popularly known as the Magical Soap. Ecoparadise is a Japanese brand that specializes in anti-oxidant products ranging from skincare, household products, cleaning agents and it's hot bed therapy in selected outlets.
Back to the magical soap, according to the label, "it works great in combating dry skin, acne problems, eczema while also being an excellent, hassle-free makeup-remover". According to the SH at Ecoparadise, this soap can be used as a facial cleanser, makeup remover, shampoo, body wash and also to remove stains from your clothes! That's baffling just to mention all it's uses. For me, I would stick to it being my facial cleanser. Anything that works to keep my blemishes at bay, is precious to me.
Here's a quick review about the soap:
- Cleans skin very thoroughly
- Acne is cleared very quickly
- Acne scars seem to have faded
- Doesn't dry out skin
- Easy to use
- Multi-purpose soap
- Moisturizer can be skimped
CONs
- Ugly packaging
- Unsure of ingredients because it's all in Japanese
I guess the verdict is out, this bar soap is really one-of-it's-kind. Strangely, I'm back to using a bar soap and never been happier.
