Swimming with mascara: Monday Discoveries
On vain days when I put makeup on the beach, I'll be real careful when swimming to not ruin my makeup. It also means swimming with my head above the water. In other words, I'm simply dog-paddling in the water. Yeah, I know, I'm a slave to beauty. I did just the same today, just that I ventured abit too far out into the sea and there was a sudden drop and I was literally plunged to the deeper end. I had no choice but to swim back to shore. It was way too deep for me. For a split nanosecond I winced at the thought that I have to swim back to shore, at the risk of ruining my mascara. I dreaded to see what a mess I would look like.
But ladies, it was a pleasant, pleasant surprise. My mascara was completely intact. Every single lash was in place and nicely curled. No raccoon eyes, no running no nothing. I'm pleasantly shocked at it's promise. I've used other waterproof mascaras before sadly all of them ended up a disaster the minute I plunged into the sea. And this time, here I was, swimming for a good distance, with waves lashing at my face, my mascara is still intact. I'm totally, deeply impressed.
This mascara is none other than Maybelline's Intense XXL Microfibre Waterproof Mascara. Of course there are many out there who hates the microfibre in the mascara. But I simply love it. For people like me with short and stick straight lashes, this mascara is heaven sent. Immediately after coating on the first coat of microfibre, my lashes look fuller and longer. My only gripe is that it's white in color. Then you have to carefully apply the second coat of mascara to completely mask the white fibres from the first application. After the second application, my lashes look so gorgeous and lush. One look at my lashes, Maybelline's tag line comes running through my head. "Maybe she's born with it, maybe it's Maybelline" I'm absolutely serious, my lashes look so much fuller and so natural. They look like fake lashes minus the hassle. Application is easy and it dries off fast enough and not smudge.
Maybelline has always been well known for it's great mascaras but I'm completely sold on this particular mascara. I've tried from high end to drugstore brands and nothing comes close to this wonderful mascara. It's definitely inducted to my holy grail products.
This only means one thing, I can swim and frolic in the sea and still have pretty, full lashes. Maybe I should put this mascara to the extreme test by probably snorkelling or diving while using it. I'll let you know of the outcome.
What say you ladies? Which is your favourite brand of mascara?
