You know, I absolutely love Body Shop and it's little precious potions. Remember my little
Body Shop spree I had weeks back :P I like Body Shop for a myriad of reasons, they have great products, great ingredients, great scents and an even greater earthly cause. What's not to love about Body Shop?
So, I've tried their
Aloe Gentle Facial Wash following my Body Shop spree. I was trilled initiallybecause it has Aloe in it, perfect for my very
stubborn and sensitive skin.
However, the verdict is out and it's not a pretty one. Actually, to be honest, it saddens me having to write this bad review on one of my favourite brands. I absolutely love Body Shop but this Aloe Gentle Facial Wash is anything but gentle. It's a real disappointment. It's very drying and leaves the skin dry and tight, really bad for my already
dry skin!!
I then checked the list of ingredients in it and it has Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLS) in it. It caught me off guard as I didn't expect this in one of Body Shop's products and especially not in their Aloe Vera range which is supposed to be for sensitive skin. As if it's not bad enough, SLS appears in large amounts too!! It was one of the top ingredients in it, not a negligible amount. SLS is a big no no for beauty buffs like us. SLS clogs pores and it's really bad for the skin.
Moral of the story is, before you purchase any beauty product, no matter how much you love that particular brand, always please check out the ingredients list to see what you're getting yourself. The beauty tyrant has spoken :)
